Sad news has been announced for the heavy metal world L

Kevin DuBrow who was the singer of Quiet Riot was found dead in his house in Las Vegas yesterday, Sunday 25. Till now is unknown the causes of his death.

In an official statment in his page Frankie Banali wrote the next.

“I can't even find words to say. Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friend Kevin DuBrow. “

Michael Politz of The Vegas Eye reported earlier today that DuBrow was found dead in his Las Vegas home on Sunday, November 25. According to Politz, DubRow — whom Politz calls "one of my closest friends" — recently celebrated his 52nd birthday in New Orleans "where he ate great food and even caught THE CULT at The House of Blues."

Although the band has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, bassist Kelly Garni, who was one of the founding members of QUIET RIOT, has posted the following message on the Randy Rhoads (late QUIET RIOT/OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist) web site RandyRhoads.tk:

"I ask this to all of you not only for myself but for other friends and family. I ask that no one here offer any speculation or opinions, theories or other things that could be construed as negative or, and I'm sorry for this, even sympathetic, right at this immediate time. I am already within hours of this having to deal with untrue rumors and speculation and that only adds fuel to that. There is a tendency for the subject of Kevin to incite flames on every board and now is not the time for that. I will explain to everyone here the facts and the truth in the next 24 to 48 hours as I realize this will effect us all. So please, until then, be patient. All details and other pertinate info will be passed on to you here when it becomes available to me. Thank you."

This Spring Turisas will invade North America, they are guest for Pagenfest 2008 festival where also they will tour with Ensiferum, Tyr and Eluveitie, with any doubt it will be an awesome festival. This was something that fans and the band was waiting for.

Sadly there is nothing Scheduled for Latin America :( so we have to go with the promoters of our cities and ask for them! i need see them! O_O

Meanwhile Tristania found the new singer to fit the place of Vibeke, who decided take her own way in March of this year, Sirenia have to face again the departure of their singer, Monika who worked with them in the album “Nine Destinies And A Downfall” realeased in March of this year.

As the band say this broke up break up was only due to musical disagreements. Here is the Monika’s statement which was posted in the Sirenia’s official page

"After much consideration I have chosen to leave Sirenia, but I will continue with music. The reason is, that we have too many musical differences, and I don’t feel like it’s the right band for me. I have had a great time in the band, lots of good experiences and only wish the best for the band in the future.

I want to send a big “Thank You” to all the fans for your support – you haven’t heard the last of me!"

This decision made the band cancel all the dates, including the tour with Therion around Europe, till they found a new singer to tour with.

For Tristania things look better, they already introduced the new singer to their fans, the name of this new metal queen is Mariangela "Mary" Demurtas from Italy, she has been working with many Italian bands, in her influences she list artist like Janis Joplin, Diamanda Galas, Lisa DalBello, Lauryn Hill, Skin, Chris Cornell and Jeff Buckley. Now she moved to Norway to record with the band, there is no more information about her, the band has posted some pictures, and one video to people know more about her.

Other band is the Gathering, they didn’t update any about the auditions that they have been doing to find not only a new female singer, this time they also wanted try with a male singer for the new album, by the moment they had already released a new double dvd  “A Noise Severe” the fans of the band can buy it in the official page

Well that all I noticed now L and hope not see more break ups and departures, by the moment my best whishes for all of those bands, sadly I wanted see Sirenia this year, in the beginning they were in the schedule with Finntroll in October but for some unknown reasons for me that concert couldn’t be.

FOO FIGHTERS HONESTAMENTE EN TRANCISIÓN

Hay un dicho que enuncia “renovarse o morir”; pero aceptémoslo, para bien o para mal, los Foo Fighters difícilmente verán a la parca entrar por su puerta.

A más de una década de su formación, los Foo Fighters entraron en esa etapa en la que superaron los tiempos difíciles y aprovechan para hacer un resumen en su carrera, y así fue; Grohl y compañía lanzaron un disco que parece estar más sostenido por el renombre del cuarteto que por ser una obra maestra, o siquiera un álbum para recordarse.

Rolas bien hechas, pegajosas y compactas, ¿suficiente para trascender? No, ¿suficiente para una banda que llena estadios y que cuenta con una legión de seguidores que adquirirán todo lo que ostente el logo FF (sin importar que sea)? Sí. Es aquí cuando hay que evaluar qué conviene más, sacar material como tortillas en tortillería o darse el tiempo necesario para armar algo que valga la pena. Hablando en billetes verdes la respuesta es clara, y a nivel musical habrá que preguntarse: ¿por qué nos quejamos de un álbum que es mejor que muchas otras mariconerías que pululan en la industria? Honestamente, lo que molesta es ver cómo una pieza con alto potencial se convierte en un disco más.

Los Foo Fighters han superado pruebas que suelen acabar con más de una banda, y las han pasado bien; en un principio se trataba de dejar atrás el mote de side-project del bataco de Nirvana y después fue superar la maldición del segundo disco, aunque una de las más difíciles, sin duda, fue la de embarrarse de MTV sin salir (del todo) manchados; pero una que de un tiempo para acá nada más no pueden pasar, es la prueba de la originalidad. Y es que el cuarteto encontró en There is Nothing Left to Lose (1999) la mezcla entre resaca grungera de los 90’s, el rock alternativo de final de siglo y, claro, una rebanada del pastel que las disqueras y los medios suelen hornear llamado mainstream. Tal pareciera que hubieran firmado un contrato con sangre, donde la cláusula principal enunciara: “evolucionar lo menos posible en los subsecuentes discos”; si así fue entonces ¡felicidades!, lo han cumplido a la perfección.

¿Hay muchas bandas que suenan igual en cada disco y aún así son exitosas? sí, claro que las hay, y de hecho, si cambiaran su sonido perderían su verdadera esencia (¿quién se imagina a Ramnstein sonando diferente en cada disco?); pero aceptémoslo, Foo Fighters no pertenece a este club; es decir, ninguna banda capaz de crear canciones como “I’ll Stick Around”, o “Learn To Fly” debería de caer en estos vicios; por desgracia Mr. Fantastic (mote con el que Shirley Manson bautizara a Grohl después de colaborar con Garbage) está gastando su genialidad en buscar (y encontrar) formas de mantenerse en ese lugar que le permite encabezar listas de popularidad por mucho tiempo. Ojalá y lo próximo que nos hagan escuchar tarde al menos el suficiente tiempo como para que el cuarteto encuentre la magia  y la frescura propia de los rockers que se preocupan más por hacer buena música que por estar presente en la industria.

FOO FIGHTERS

Algo es seguro, Dave Grohl nunca hará un disco malo, puede hacer música lentona o melosa, pero mala jamás; ese precisamente es el caso de Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. Sí, algunas canciones están bien prendidas, rockeras y por momentos (muy breves) nos hace recordar al Grohl de mata larga; sí, las baterías suenan aún más (¿más?) producidas y ponchadas que en recientes materiales; y sí, este disco está más variado que el bipolar In Your Honnor. Fuera de eso, nada más a destacar. Es el mismo sonido al que estamos acostumbrados desde One By One y que de momento parece que no va a evolucionar en algo nuevo. La producción a cargo de Gil Norton refrescó lo que venían haciendo, pero sólo eso, no lo cambió ni llevó por un camino diferente; y allí es donde todo flaquea y encontramos una gran laguna: falta el elemento desafiante, el reto de la banda hacia sus fans y a los no tanto; por desgracia el ex Nirvana encontró un lugar muy cómodo y no da señales de querer salir de ahí.

Foo Fighters have been and still being one of my favorite bands.

i heard them without know were they, With There's nothing left to lose i loved them, with One By One they get me,  In your honor, i was sure i will be them no matter what. With this new album im not feel deception, but is so true what they said, Foo Fighters is a band that not have nothing to lose with their sound, i know very well the ability of Dave and im sure he can make more, and rescue again the sound of alternative Music! is something im waiting for! i was a big fan of alternative music, and i stop of hear it because it dont offer me nothing new, i get tired of new bands so easy. Since i heard the new single "The pretender" i thought in All my life, that isnt good :S, i know FF wont die, but i dont want they turn into a band like others. Dave already won the war against be the shadow of Nirvana, now he have to make a new one! to keep a fresh  sound , with rage! with no conformity! and ill be waiting for beacouse i always believe in him.
